What you’ll do as a Network Engineer at Akuna:    

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our innovative and growing technology team at Akuna. The ideal candidate is likely to have worked within the financial industry and able to demonstrate a successful history in network architecture, design, maintenance, and monitoring. We are looking for highly self-motivated multi-taskers who are comfortable working in a demanding, state-of-the-art electronic trading environment. In this role, you will:  

  • Analyze business requirements and design, implement, and manage an effective network that supports our global trading platform. 
  • Proactively identify enhancements to existing configurations, technologies, or procedures to improve performance and reduce bottlenecks. 
  • Evaluate current/new technology and network providers on an ongoing basis to ensure that the trading infrastructure remains stable, competitive, and cost effective. 
  • Work closely with our entire IT team, Developers and Traders to improve all aspects of our infrastructure. 
  • Handle the day-to-day support of our network and trading infrastructure 
  • Work on open sourced and proprietary monitoring tools that are customized to fit our business. 
  • Assist in breaking down complex issues within the network stack. 
  • Document and focus on automation of all our day-to-day operations. 

Qualities that make great candidates: 

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working primarily with Cisco and Arista. 
  • Extensive experience with configuring and troubleshooting BGP, OSPF, and Multicast protocols 
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.). 
    Experience working with security platforms including PaloAlto, Cisco ASA/FirePower, Meraki, etc. 
  • Experience performing network traffic and protocol analysis using standard industry tools (Wireshark, tcpdump). 
  • Knowledge of low latency exchange implementations preferred . 
  • Experience with Linux OS. 
  • Scripting language experience, such as Python, is a plus. 
  • Strong project management and communication skills. 
  • Ability to multitask and meet numerous business goals.
