Hudson River Trading is seeking a Compliance Officer to set the direction for our newly-established presence in Hong Kong. We’re looking for someone who is knowledgeable on Hong Kong regulations (specifically in Equities and Options) and understands the intricacies of their application to algorithmic trading. This role reports directly to our Head of Asia Compliance; the ideal candidate has a willingness and ability to communicate promptly and effectively with colleagues across global businesses.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures for various business lines
- Routinely audit the compliance program to ensure the firm is meeting its responsibilities, including all participant reporting obligations
- Research new rules and laws to ensure the firm implements a reasonable and effective compliance program
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulators and trading venues
- Conduct compliance risk assessments and monitoring, report on findings, provide recommendations, and implement changes where appropriate
- Review alerts generated by the surveillance system and advise on any changes to reports as required
- Monitor regulatory developments and communicate applicable details to relevant teams
- Provide compliance guidance on trading and business initiatives
- Complete other ad hoc tasks or projects as assigned
Qualifications
- 5 - 10+ years of trading compliance experience working directly with regulators
- University degree in accounting, finance, law or a related discipline
- In-depth knowledge of Hong Kong markets, specifically in Equities and Options trading, and knowledge of best practices around Hong Kong’s primary
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong understanding of risk controls/monitoring and how they apply to HRT’s compliance program
- Experience in the creation, development, and implementation of compliance policies and procedures for new trading initiatives
- Ability to efficiently and effectively communicate with a variety of teams and stakeholders at a global organization
- Ability to work independently, with the judgment to involve management when required
- Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple projects
- Skilled in organization and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a technical environment
