Software Engineer, Trading Team

Job Description

One of Jump’s growing quantitative trading teams is looking to add a software engineer to focus on their statistical arbitrage trading efforts. The individual in this role will collaborate extensively with traders and technologists to evolve, improve, and maintain all elements of the trading team’s infrastructure, including research, optimization, and execution. As well, the ideal candidate will play a role in production, helping to ensure that trading proceeds smoothly across global markets. Given the breadth of the role, the ideal candidate will be passionate about development and able to solve difficult technical problems in a fast-paced and energetic environment.

In this role, the successful candidate can expect exposure to a wide range of interesting and challenging problems involving software design, big data, and high-performance computing. Individuals will work with infrastructure developed in Python and C++.

Members of the team have diverse academic and engineering backgrounds, and would regard a successful, high-impact Software Engineer as a key partner of the trading team. While the team is based in New York, the business is global and thus the team is open to discussing location. 

Skills You'll Need:

  • Excellent programming skills, with the ability to do development and system design work along with situational problem solving
  • At least 2+ years of Python programming experience is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of C++
  • Experience working on a Linux platform
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-directed and comfortable taking ownership of projects and responsibilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Minimum academic qualification Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • Preferred but not required: Experience in the trading industry, 2-5 years ideal
  • Reliable and predictable availability
