Senior Manager, Data Risk and Governance

Are you a data professional with experience leading a high-performing data team and seeking your next opportunity? If so, this is an exciting new opportunity to work with Macquarie’s Risk Management Group’s (RMG) Data team and support initiatives to uplift the value of data within risk.

As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for building and managing relationships across the Risk Management Group and leading Data Risk and Governance work for data in change initiatives. You will lead a data risk squad to help identify, analyse, track, remediate and report on data risk across our Financial Risk divisions (including Credit, Market and Aggregate Risk). Other key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting initiatives to implement Macquarie’s Data Governance Framework for data processes and their associated data lineage and attributes

  • Leading engagements with business groups to embed data governance practices within change and BAU

  • Create a ‘data risk’ profile for our divisions by reviewing and assessing their core functional business processes

  • Supporting the detection and remediation of data quality issues within our core businesses and ensuring appropriate stakeholder visibility

  • Helping to design, build and manage remediation packages across data and technical debts in our businesses

  • Leading regular stakeholder meetings with respect to data risk and ensuring there is appropriate oversight and transparency in changes to the data risk profile, championing data roles and responsibilities, and helping to build and enable the RMG Data Community

  • Managing the backlog of work and facilitating prioritisation (with teams dispersed across Sydney, Gurugram and Manila)

  • Embedding a continuous improvement mindset within the team to achieve operational efficiency and growth

  • Regularly ensuring our documentation of data within processes is kept up to date and associated data risks are either risk accepted or put in queue for remediation

  • Liaising with our Group Data Office to build enterprise-wide data governance

What skills will you use?

As a senior leadership role, you will bring with you relevant experience leading high-performing data teams, ideally within risk management or financial services. You will also bring with you:

  • A delivery-oriented approach and ability to work with stakeholders to understand their needs and mature their data capabilities

  • Ability to influence and support stakeholders at all levels to effectively manage their critical data elements

  • Ability to prioritise effectively across numerous initiatives – whilst your focus will be data risk, you will also work with the broader team to support in implementing Enterprise Information Management Frameworks across Risk Divisions

  • Demonstrated competence and passion for people management – a proven track record of building high performing teams, communicating effectively and promoting collaboration

  • A strong risk mindset and ability to make independent risk based decisions

  • High level of database and technology exposure, including experience in data analysis and querying eg. SQL, Informatica IDQ and metadata tooling (Collibra)
