As the Controls Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for designing, supporting and continually improving Optiver’s risk and control processes. Driving the highest standards across the control teams. Responsibilities include:

  • Support the Risk Assurance activities for all control functions ensuring rotational reviews are completed timely and actions and remediation items are addressed promptly
  • Undertake in depth control assessments on topical issues, working with control owners to pre-emptively manage and mitigate risks in their areas
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Risk Management & Assurance strategy across the APAC regional control teams
  • Contribute to the maturity of the overarching Risk and Control frameworks, improving the risk identification, assessment, reporting as well as escalation and remediation processes
  • Manage the reporting and investigation of risk incidents, ensuring appropriate escalation and remediation in partnership with control owners’ teams
  • Collaborate with control team leads and promote a challenging risk dialogue that allows for emerging issues to be discussed, debated, and addressed in a timely manner
  • Support the Head of Assurance in developing an advisory capability within the Control Change and Assurance team and actively seek out opportunities to challenge and improve the risk culture in the Control functions.


Optiver needs our next Control & assurance Manager to be someone with:

  • 5 -7 years’ experience in a line 1 or line 2 risk management role
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk management concepts, frameworks and tools
  • Track record of career success operating in a core control team with contributions of improving the risk management operations.
  • Proven critical and challenging mindset, comfortable going against the status quo to reach improved outcomes.
  • Ability to understand complex processes and design optimal processes with a strong focus on internal controls.
  • An understanding of data analysis and problem-solving capabilities in various applications, excel, VBA, various BI tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
  • An advocate for behavioural and cultural change, being comfortable to influence individuals to improve risk and control awareness through the organisation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with an innate drive to succeed and collaborate with high performing individuals.
  • Project management skills and/or participation in enterprise-wide projects would be an advantage.
