Compliance Assurance Specialist

What is the role?

The role will be reporting to the Manager Compliance Assurance and Testing, the Compliance Assurance Specialist is a member of the Compliance Assurance & Testing team, within T&S Compliance. 

The T&S Compliance Assurance & Testing team has global responsibility to:

  • Support and maintain the framework for Line of Defense 2 (LOD2) assurance plans and ensure evidence of compliance

  • Complete Compliance Risk Assessments or Compliance Assurance Reviews and determine any actions necessary to reduce the level of risk and/or to close the gaps identified; and

  • Perform Compliance assurance and controls testing activities

As a Compliance Assurance Specialist, you are responsible for the following duties:

  • Develop, support and maintain key elements of the overall Compliance Risk Assessment Framework and Compliance Assurance Methodology

  • Support key elements of the overall T&S Compliance Assurance plan on an annual basis containing a variety of assurance activities for the various lines of business

  • Ensure execution of key elements of the overall T&S Compliance Assurance plan

  • Obtain evidence of compliance across T&S businesses, covering both LOD1 (where applicable) and LOD2 activities

  • Assess and report on the level of compliance risk within T&S businesses and recommend actions for the business to reduce risks to within tolerances

  • Monitor controls testing and, in some instances, conduct sample checks of controls

  • Partner as a Compliance Assurance SME with other parts of Compliance and other Functions, including Legal, Finance and Audit


What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the USA on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

  • Candidate must have minimum 8 - 10 (eight to ten) years of working experience and has an auditing, compliance, or assurance background

  • Bachelor’s degree in any related field is preferable

  • Strong analytical and communication skills

  • Experience in developing and maintaining a comprehensive Compliance Risk Assessment and/or Assurance Framework, including controls testing, within a Financial Services or trading firm.

  • Experience in operating an Assurance program and annual plans as well as a proven ability to execute.

  • Understanding global commodities business.

  • Robust understanding and assessment on the effectiveness of Compliance controls.

  • Clear understanding of the “3 Lines of Defense” model and segregation of duties for each LOD.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders.  Credible and persuasive in ensuring the needs of our complex business are fully understood, resolve conflict, and deliver tough messages.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and partner effectively within a global team.
