Senior Strategist

Responsibilities

  • Aim to solve, and innovate when necessary, business problems related to assets, liabilities, and investments through rigorous quantitative approaches. 
  • Work on ALM strategy initiatives and research, risk appetite assessment and limits, methodology specification for products and liabilities, and credit, market, operational risk, hedging and cash flow models and assumptions.
  • Provide advanced analytical and statistical proficiency as part of the finance and/or technology capability that resides within the broader ALM function including modeling, research, trading/hedging strategies. Discover business insights and identify opportunities through the use of financial engineering, statistical, algorithmic, and visualization techniques.
  • Participate in the company-wide stress testing process, methodology and analysis.
  • Leverage leading technologies and analytical methodologies in the financial engineering arena.
  • Produce and present departmental level analysis to mid- or senior-level management.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a technical/quantitative discipline, such as finance, economics, operation research, engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or physics, or Bachelor's degree with CFA or ASA designation
  • Two years of relevant experience
  • Front office experience at a bank, hedge fund, asset management firm, or insurance company
  • Working knowledge of Excel, VBA, SQL
  • Good understanding of risk methodologies used in the banking or insurance industry
  • Communication skills to convey complex information verbally and in writing at the appropriate level of detail for each audience

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFA or post-graduate degree
  • Ability to think independently and influence decision making
  • Ability to extract ideas from academic publications and apply them
  • Understanding of actuarial and accounting

Working Environment:

Employees will be assigned to one of the following work location designations:

  • In office employees will perform all of their work at a Company office location.
  • Hybrid employees will need to work at a Company office location at times and a remote work location (typically their home) at times.
  • Commuting Remote employees will need to report to a Company office location at times, but will perform their work primarily remotely.
  • Non-commuting Remote employees will not be assigned to report to a Company office location (although they may need to travel to a Company office upon request) and will perform their work remotely.
