NAM Commodities Operations - SVP

Citi Market Operations is a dynamic, global and diverse organisation, with a presence in over 60 Countries covering all post-execution Operations teams including product aligned Middle Office groups, Settlements, Margin, Asset Servicing, Listed Derivative & Commodities Operations.

The role resides within the NAM Commodities Operations team based in Houston, whom are primarily responsible for supporting and partnering with the Commodities Business across the full suite of their activities. The Commodities business transacts high volumes across many different markets including Oil, Precious Metals, Base Metals, Softs, Power, Freight & Emissions. This Senior Vice President (SVP) position is responsible for leading Commodities Operations' role in onboarding new business in the in the Commodities Physical Financing and Structured business and will lead the Commodities Operations Transformation Program globally. We require a specialist with an a strong understanding of how to risk manage structured commodity deals, inventory financing and who is able to demonstrate previous experience in managing a change / transformation program.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a strategic partner with all potential stakeholders in onboarding new and complex commodities transactions, ensuring procedures are properly embedded, supported and risk managed on an ongoing basis.
  • Serve as an analytical and procedural expert in the full trade life cycle while supporting a wide range of internal and external clients.
  • Assist with the planning of actions and resources to support new business.
  • Manage complex and variable operations related issues (e,g, across trade booking / settlement / confirmations / etc.), define and communicate problems, develop innovative solutions, streamline processes and lead change-the-bank initiatives.
  • Closely follow trends in the industry, identify cost saving opportunities and build effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Increase productivity and efficiencies by analyzing and presenting data to develop new solutions and oversee the integrity of process.
  • Assist with overseeing the risk control environment, compliance efforts to follow policies and procedures and keep abreast of Citi's operational processes and best practices in business strategy.
  • Serve as an advisor and coach to new or junior level staff on procedures and work processes across multiple departments.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Senior to advanced level experience in a related role preferred
  • Subject matter expert in one or more areas of function
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Proven ability to manage various concurrent activities/projects in a high-risk environment
  • Effective project management and negotiation skills
  • Consistently demonstrated clear and concise written and verbal communication
