Cash Investment Trader – Agency Securities Lending / Directed Agent Investment Services - New York

Agency Securities Lending (ASL), and Directed Agent Investment Services (DAIS), within the Execution Services division of Securities Services, part of the Institutional Clients Group, partners with institutional investors to enhance their portfolio returns. ASL is viewed as a critical source of liquidity within the global securities finance market, while DAIS occupies a similar position within the global short term money market.

Citi provides 24-hour trading coverage and client services through its business locations in Sydney, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Dublin, New York, Tampa and Mexico City. Citi’s strategic presence in these locations is designed to align our business with our client base, and provide a platform to target new client mandates. Our traders execute transactions for leading global institutional investors including Sovereign Wealth Funds, Pension Funds, Insurance Companies, ETF Issuers, and Mutual Funds. Leveraging our market-leading combination of securities lending expertise, local branch network, and breadth and depth of supply enables us to create mutually beneficial opportunities for both lenders and borrowers alike.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage cash investments according to client guidelines and within prudent portfolio risk parameters.
  • Participate in daily trading activities to maximize our clients’ portfolio performance.
  • Adhere to risk & control guidelines specifically as it relates to counterparty credit limits, best execution, and fiduciary obligations.  
  • Develop and maintain relationships with investment counterparts, and stay abreast of macro interest rate environment.
  • Identify and present trading opportunities to clients in order to manage risk and performance.
  • Work with the global sales, client executive, and product colleagues to build and present portfolio models for prospective and existing clients.
  • Prepare market commentary for prospective and existing clients, as well as management reporting.   
  • Interface with operations, technology, and account management teams to ensure proper controls, settlements and client reporting.

PROJECTS AND DELIVERABLES:

  • Support the execution of daily trading activity to maintain best-in-class industry rankings.     
  • Exceed revenue, profitability, and return on capital targets through optimal execution and broadening client base.
  • Partner with global trading & quantitative analysis teams to enhance proprietary trading analytics & optimization engine designed for portfolio benchmarking and attribution.
  • Help facilitate business process re-engineering, to add efficiencies to and streamline investment trading functions.
  • Build and sustain working relationships with colleagues across Securities Services & the broader ICG.                                                                                                                                                                                  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6 – 10 yeas of Investment Trading and/or Investment Management experience, especially within the global money markets. Securities Finance market knowledge preferred.  
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg, QlikView, MS Excel modelling & macro development.
  • Ability to analyse and determine pricing for short term fixed income securities, along with relative value of investments according to a set of guidelines.
  • Ability to multitask and work under time pressure. Self-motivator with entrepreneurial disposition.
  • Ability to translate and articulate investment thoughts and ideas to a larger audience including colleagues, senior management, and clients.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s / University Degree, Master’s degree preferred.
