C#/.NET Developer for Commodities - AVP

 

The Applications Development Senior Programmer Analyst is an intermediate level position responsible for participation in the establishment and implementation of new or revised application systems and programs in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to contribute to applications systems analysis and programming activities.

 

Role:

  • The team develops and supports  a strategic platform which manages, stores and distributes internal and external market data for the commodities business.  This covers data published and used by front office trading as well as EOD & Intraday settlement data used across the group for risk and pricing computations.
  • We are a team who understands more than just software development. We interact with traders and the business
  • Applications range from in-house developed software to third party applications such as ZEMA.
  • We are looking to expand the size of the team which is currently around 12 people globally across London , Houston and Pune.
  • Our roles offer motivated candidates the chance to engage with our trading and sales teams and learn the vital role market data plays in trading a wide range of commodities financial and physical products and asset classes. Beyond market data, we offer the chance to gain experience of real-time pricing and risk techniques.
  • Citi are now one of the largest players in the banking sector in Commodities, having grown rapidly over the past five years and we have ambitious plans to further develop our Commodities platform. Our technology challenges are therefore fast-moving and varied.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Business requirements gathering and building detailed knowledge on how market data is used, processed and accessed by users and consumer applications.
  • Familiarity with pricing , risk and analytics functionality.
  • Define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements.
  • Resolve variety of high impact problems/projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes and system processes.
  • Adhere to standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
  • Work as part of global team on wider initiatives but also take on pro-active responsibility for personal project deliveries.
  • Maintain L2 support for market data systems and build strong relationships with our users.
  • We are part of global market derivatives trading, the market data team provides a service to the risk and pricing platform

 

Technical/Functional expertise Required:

  • Strong experience in server side programming using C# (min 5 years), WCF + Workflow based validation.
  • Familiarity with Python
  • High volume data distribution
  • Exposure to Micro Services framework & usage of any Micro services orchestration frame work would be advantageous.
  • Very strong and motivated to use industry best practices in software development(TDD)
  • Strong experience in SQL & RDBMS concepts
  • Strong communication skills, should able to interact with internal stake holders and drive as individual with minimal inputs
  • Strong problem solving skills.

 

Nice to Have

  • Strong experience in Python 2.7 or above
  • Exposure to Java, C++ (Desirable)
  • Proven experience in  low latency , high volume data distribution & sourcing related projects. Any experience in data modelling would be advantageous.
  • Prior experience on Commodities & exposure to Trade life cycle, risk system would be advantageous.
  • Good understanding on NoSQL DB concepts.
