Commodities XVA Trader

A trader to work alongside an established CVA/XVA trading desk managing all aspects of deal pricing, book management and projects.  The trader will be mainly supporting the North America commodity business and would be a trading north America power & gas products actively.



Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a trading book as a Senior trader and generate revenues and manage risk for the respective business
  • Pricing and risk management of XVAs arising from secured and unsecured transactions in commodities business. Risk management would involve trading commodities, credit, fx, interest rate and other hedge products
  • Working with other commodities trading desks, sales and structuring
  • Computing and optimizing funding and capital for the overall commodities business
  • Reviewing and monitoring XVA pnl under various stress scenarios
  • Responding to various regulatory deliverables
  • Work with Risk, Finance, Quants and IT team to enhance existing models. Collaborate with different stakeholders to improve existing XVA infrastructure
  • Trade a book and deliver on budgeted revenues and manage book risk
  • Establish and maintain key relationships to deliver trades to the desk
  • Anticipate client demand in each respective product/market and facilitate large client trades
  • Coordinate with desk analysts as needed and with sales to develop the franchise and manage and mentor junior traders as needed
  • Leading strong governance and controls:
  • Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
  • Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
  • Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you
  • Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in commodities or XVA or complex derivatives
  • Ability to act and make decisions independently
  • Extremely strong communication skills and ability to explain complex concept to someone who has no familiarity
  • Required licensing and registrations as applicable
  • Very strong analytical and mathematical skill
  • Ability to work with sales & structures and contribute to deal structuring
  • Effective interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to pick up new concepts and think outside the box

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Numerate degree preferred

Job Background/context: The Commodities XVA desk is responsible for the pricing and subsequent risk management of trades in the commodities business. The desk also manages and prices the use of funding and capital. The desk prices transactions of varying sizes, and manages several portfolios of credit, commodities, rate, fx and volatility risk. The desk works closely with sales, risk management, finance and all commodities trading desks.
