Overview

DV Energy is looking for an experienced Oil analyst with a deep understanding of the global market.   They will be able to connect historical data, forward market analysis, macroeconomic and geopolitical information to create and distribute a consistent, comprehensive, and trusted view of the medium- and long-term oil markets. This analysis must demonstrate a deep understanding of the key drivers such as local production and its evolution, refinery demand, inter regional arbitrage and substitution, geopolitical risks and financial flows.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Development of predictive forecasting models and analytical tools.
  • Work to build, operate and maintain short/medium/long term models to perform fundamental analysis of the global oil markets. 
  • Own and drive the development of this  short, medium and long-term crude oil market analysis, ensuring a focus on delivering practical business benefits.
  • Conduct excellent quality analyses and closely monitor accuracy of analytical output over time.
  • Effectively communicate views and findings to traders.
  • Stay abreast of leading-edge developments, analytical techniques, technologies, and tools in advanced analytics.
  • Produce strategic and entrepreneurial insights that can drive thematic trading in conjunction with the trading team.

Requirements: 

  • A deep understanding of the global oil market gained in a research, trading, or similar capacity.
  • Solid experience analyzing global/regional oil markets.
  • Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team - should demonstrate curiosity, initiative and self-sufficiency and the ability to make market calls.
  •  A desire to think big and be comfortable in contrarian thinking.
