Location: We’ll support you to work flexibly from home (providing a suite of IT equipment), whilst coming together on site to offer face to face support and collaboration. There will also be ad-hoc travel to our London and Hove offices as required.

Join EDF as a Senior Finance Manager, working in partnership with the Senior Leadership of the Customers business where you’ll sit at the heart of all key decisions impacting operating costs, making a significant positive impact on performance, and helping the business to deliver its strategic and financial cost targets.


The opportunity…


The Cost Team are responsible for planning, forecasting and business partnering on a total operating cost base of c£800m. The Senior Manager will lead a team of Senior Analysts with a focus on supporting the Smart and Variable Metering elements of our cost base to manage and reduce costs whilst ensuring cost treatment is robust and in line with company policy and accounting standards. 


You’ll be responsible for supporting the Customer Operations Executive Performance Reviews and reporting of the Company’s financial performance. In addition, you’ll support development of action plans to ensure delivery against the Governments BEIS Smart installation targets, acting as a strategic partner to the business by providing robust financial analysis and value-added support.


You will also be responsible for managing the financial planning process for Metering including production of the Medium-Term Plan, budgets, and monthly re-forecasts. Primarily forward looking, you will review planning, budgeting, and forecasting information focusing on challenging assumptions and decisions, ensuring quality and consistency. You’ll also partner Operations leads to define and monitor financial KPIs, CIP scorecard performance and set performance target in alignment to business strategy and planning. Finally, you will be expected to highlight and challenge adverse performance and/or risks and intervene when exceptions occur.


You’ll have the opportunity to get involved with new initiatives, investment appraisals, investigate the feasibility of new revenue streams and generally offer financial support to commercial decision makers and finance colleagues within the business units.


What we’re looking for…


You will have proven relevant experience gained in a senior role within Finance at a large organisation, as well as being a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or equivalent, with post qualification experience. You will also have the ability to work independently with a methodical and flexible approach to ensure deadlines are achieved.


To be successful in this role you will be customer-focused and possess demonstrable business partnering skills and experience. You will be able to interact with internal finance teams and operational stakeholders with ease and be confident at presenting. You will be excellent at developing and maintaining networks both insider and outside of Finance.


You will have knowledge of financial processes and an ability to consider full range of factors impacting a decision and able to compromise and negotiate, constructively challenging assumptions, business performance and plans. Be an excellent project manager as well as creative thinker. The role calls for both a starter and a coordinator.


Possessing strong problem-solving skills and an ability to use both logic and intuition to derive solutions for both finance and the business. You will be commercially astute with good analytical skills. Proven ability to influence and manage stakeholders and build effective working relationships across functions including at a senior level, as well as being a confident presenter.
