Location: We’ll support you to work flexibly from home (providing a suite of IT equipment), whilst coming together on site to offer face to face support and collaboration.

Join EDF as a Market Risk Senior Analyst and support the design, implementation and development of EDF (UK) market risk control framework.


You will be providing expert market risk analysis and reporting, in support of and in challenge to commercial decision making, promoting clarity of understanding of risks and full transparency, while ensuring commercial teams adhere to the approved risk mandate and established control framework.


The opportunity…


As a Market Risk Senior Analyst, you will be providing accurate and insightful market risk analysis and reporting to control the activities of the commercial business teams efficiently and effectively, including trading functions and Customers Sales and Marketing teams. You will be identifying breaches relating to the market risk control framework and contribute to their resolution through investigation and reporting.


A key part of this role is to manage EDF Energy’s relationship with EDF Group’s second level risk control department. To also lead the process for updating the EDF (UK) risk mandate, ensuring that it remains fit for purpose and consistent with corporate policy and that it is understood by key stakeholders


Own and develop market risk methodologies to ensure senior management has the appropriate degree of understanding to guide business decisions and ensure consistency with the EDF Energy risk mandate. 


Provide commercial teams with support, challenge and expert risk analysis including the critical evaluation of trading and commercial strategies to improve the quality of commercial proposals and decision making and ensure they meet the desired risk appetite of EDF Energy.
   

Ensure that an appropriate level of risk review is carried out for new products, strategies, structures and investments and that the risks are clearly understood by decision makers. Be responsible for ensuring appropriate validation of all market risk premia and associated methodologies across the commercial teams.


What we’re looking for…


To be successful as a Market Risk Senior Analyst you will have in-depth knowledge of UK energy or financial markets. You will also ideally have experience in managing operational processes, ensuring robustness and efficiency, as well as being highly analytical and having critical thinking and problem-solving skills.


We also require you to be educated to at least undergraduate degree level in a numerical/analytical subject, and/or hold a professional finance/risk management qualification - CFA, FRM, ERP (desirable but not essential).


You will have sound theoretical and practical understanding of risk management methods and techniques and a strong commercial acumen with an understanding of changing business & financial environments.


You will be able to establish and maintain effective internal and external business relationships with key stakeholders at all levels, as you will be engaging with senior stakeholders, escalating where necessary and presenting clear and concise information. Possessing strong organisational and time management skills with a high level of attention to detail and being able to work autonomously within a pressured environment.
