Senior Operations Process Redesign Manager

Our Operations team consists of Middle and Back Office teams that are critical for the successful running of our post trade processing and, as such, perform a very important task for the firm. The Middle Office team performs reconciliations, facilitates the processing of trades and liaises with internal departments and external counterparties to resolve trade and settlement discrepancies.  Our Operations team is dynamic and does not just accept the status quo, so they are continuously seeking opportunities to take everything they do to the next level.

As Senior Operations Process Redesign Manager, you will be based in Amsterdam and you will report directly into the Chief Risk Officer. In this very exciting role, you will be working closely with a dedicated team of developers and project managers.

A day in the life

The team begins each day by performing position and P&L reconciliations based on the previous day’s ending data. This is crucial to ensure the firm has accurate data to begin the trading day with. Next, the team will work on resolving trade breaks and fails using a variety of tools at their disposal.

Each day presents new challenges and the chance to learn more. Throughout the day, the team is working closely with internal departments and external counterparties to resolve any settlement issues. At the end of the trading day, the team will facilitate the processing of trades to ensure reporting is properly set up for the next day’s reconciliations. The team’s responsibilities are rotated in such a way that all members of the team get the opportunity to learn about and work on all facets of the group.

What you will do

  • Oversee the middle office operations process improvement and process redesign initiatives in accordance with 6-sigma best practices
  • Manage projects/initiatives involving the development and implementation of business solutions that enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall operational performance with focus on automation and control improvement
  • Prioritize, structure, and plan improvement roadmap and drive strategic development projects
  • Keeping up to date on industry initiatives and best practices
  • Improve the process of implementing new counterparties and prime brokers
  • Manage, train and coach the teams globally in process optimization, 6-sigma principles and control definition

What you need to succeed

  • University Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience
  • 6-sigma qualification
  • Proven track record of successfully managing a major operations/ business process transformation, including the establishment of a strong control framework
  • Deep functional knowledge of operational processes, procedures and issue resolution across global equity, fixed-income or derivative instruments
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a fast paced, high-intensity working environment with multiple and diverse responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, along with the analytical skills needed to identify problems and trends
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with stakeholders, including counterparties and prime brokers
  • Strong team working skills and the ability to provide assistance and mentorship
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and the willingness to take on additional responsibility
  • Excellent English communication skills
