G-Research is Europe’s leading quantitative finance research firm. We hire the brightest minds in the world to tackle some of the biggest questions in finance. We pair this expertise with machine learning, big data, and some of the most advanced technology available to predict movements in financial markets.
The role
Over the course of 10 weeks, Natural Language Processing (NLP) Research interns will gain a unique insight into the world of quantitative finance and work at the cutting-edge of what we do at G-Research.
NLP has developed rapidly over the last three years and NLP’s “ImageNet moment” has sat at the centre of this through advances such as contextualised word embeddings, massive pre-trained language models, and novel neural network architectures.
G-Research has followed the same trend. We apply the latest tools to tasks like named entity recognition and entity linking, sentiment analysis, knowledge graphs, and topic modelling, across enormous datasets, to keep us at the forefront of industry.
As an NLP Research intern, you will have the opportunity to work on a meaningful and challenging research project that demands the application of innovative mathematical and computational analysis, as well as the latest NLP techniques described above.
You will collaborate with a Quantitative Researcher, who will act as a mentor, as you work on your independent project and receive structured feedback and reviews to help you to improve and develop during your time with us.
This culminates in a final presentation of your research – based on real-world datasets from finance and non-finance sourced - to senior management.
Taking part in G-Research's Summer Internship Programme will give you an in-depth insight into our academic approach to the world of quantitative finance and allow you to explore the thriving city of London, while you get to know your fellow interns and colleagues through a full itinerary of fun social events.
A high percentage of our interns go on to join G-Research on a full-time basis on completion of their academic studies.
