Senior Software Engineer – Trading Systems, Java

Overview

GTS is looking for a senior java developer to join a senior development team supporting our ETF market making business. The team managing and building out our platform handles the firm's high volume electronic trading flows in various instruments. You will be working with quant researchers and technologists as well as trading desks to build our trading platform and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business stakeholders to build new and maintain existing algo trading platform features.
  • Ensure the trading platform is built with high-performance low-latency solutions.
  • Meet deadlines in support of a fast-moving release cycle
  • Leverage new technologies and approaches with continuous improvement in mind.
  • Tailor the algorithmic container to meet the demand to house increasingly more sophisticated algorithmic strategies.
  • Responsible for the analysis of project requirements and the development of technical specifications.
  • Ability to independently analyze and troubleshoot complex applications.
  • Performs unit and systems testing of applications/solutions.
  • Uses product specifications to build system documentation.
  • Has experience with all phases of application programming.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in the software implementation lifecycle and specific programming languages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • 7+ years of experience in creating, maintaining, enhancing trading engines, order management systems and/or smart order routing solutions across multiple asset classes
  • Expert level knowledge of Java essential, Experience with KDB
  • Experience with message oriented middleware like TIBCO Rendezvous®

  • Strong understanding of FIX protocol, market data and trading signals
  • In-depth understanding of algorithmic trading strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Expertise in application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • Advanced knowledge of architecture and design across all systems
  • Proficiency in multiple modern programming languages
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices
  • Ability to work in small, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals
  • Passionate about building an innovative culture

 

The following experience/attributions are a plus:

 

  • Experience with database applications and working knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of Pre and Post trade analytics,
  • Understanding of build and deployment management
  • Experience as a member of a team providing L2 support

In accordance with New York City's Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is $175,000 to $325,000. Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits.
