Senior Corporate Accountant

A quantitative trading firm based in downtown Manhattan is looking for a corporate accountant with a background in financial services. You will have the opportunity to learn various accounting functions within the company such as corporate fund accounting, expense management, corporate structure management, and internal and external financial reporting preparation and analysis. In addition, you will collaborate closely with developers to design and implement tools and reports relating to various accounting, tax, and financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Record and analyze worldwide operating expenses, working with various groups across the organization.
  • Manage expense allocations and provide analysis to Management as requested.
  • Perform daily and month end responsibilities associated with both regulated and non-regulated entities.
  • Perform month-end closing procedures consisting of financial statement preparation, cash reconciliations, recording income/expense accruals, recording inter-company transactions, and preparing capital allocation schedules.
  • Assist in preparing monthly consolidated financial statements including consolidation of various overseas funds.
  • Assist with external audits including preparation of financial statements and footnotes under US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Perform necessary accounting research on an as needed basis and provide recommendations to Management for proper treatment of specific transactions.
  • Work with our tax department to provide information and collaborate in connection with various intercompany relationships and tax filings.
  • Work alongside our Treasury group in a cash management and forecasting capacity.
  • Assist in the creation and design of automated reports requested by management.
  • Test and utilize automated tools for reconciliation and profit reports. Automated tools can include utilizing Unix commands, SQL queries, and running scripts in Python.
  • Work with relational databases and set up reports using simple SQL queries.

 Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, excellent understanding of GAAP
  • 2 - 5 years of experience 
  • Strong Excel skills, VBA/SQL experience preferred
  • Partnership or investment accounting experience is preferred 
  • Big 4 or large national firm experience a plus
  • A CPA License will be required (must have passed and/or passed 3 of 4 sections with requirement to pass last section while employed)
  • Excellent communications skills; articulate, persuasive, and tactful
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be able to multitask with strong time management skills
