Junior Quantitative Portfolio Manager - Credit

The Credit team at Hudson River Trading (HRT) is a high-performing, lean and nimble team. As a Junior Quantitative Portfolio Manager joining the Credit desk, your primary responsibility will be to manage semi-systematic or quantamental, market-neutral portfolios of credit positions. You will also work with researchers and developers to improve our investment process, incorporating your understanding of market technicals and credit fundamentals. We run a business of quantitatively modeled, discretionary traded, fundamentally vetted positions. You will have a broad mandate to create impact.

This is an opportunity for you to innovate and contribute your own novel ideas in an extremely meritocratic environment. You will join a team that is motivated by genuine collaboration; it is a fundamental part of how we measure success. You will expand your breadth of knowledge in credit by learning from the experiences of the Credit team across both the buy and sell sides.

Algo Credit is a relatively newer vertical that partners closely with the broader Algorithmic Development group at HRT. We deploy market-neutral strategies designed to deliver returns in all market environments. Credit’s portfolios consist of liquid positions across corporate capital structures and their derivatives (corporate bonds, credit default swaps, ETFs, and equities). Our search for idiosyncratic returns extends across the globe with investments in several industries, from the largest crypto exchange in the US to the smallest copper mine in Zambia. Our investment strategies are quantitatively driven and span the stylistic spectrum of credit investing, from traditional fundamental analysis to purely systematic.

  • Strong ability to understand, analyze and digest fundamental credit research
  • In-depth understanding of the impact and influence of factors in portfolio construction

  • You understand that independence is important but teamwork is critical
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • You believe success is defined not only by a quantitative aptitude, but by a social aptitude, and seek to be part of a team that excels in both

Annual base salary range of $150,000 to $250,000. Pay (base and bonus) may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package, in addition to company-paid medical and/or other benefits.
