Middle Office Lead - Dublin

The Middle Office team at Hudson River Trading (HRT) designs and operates the systems and processes that smoothly reconcile the firm’s trading with our various brokers and counterparties. Due to the high volume of trades and complexity of the system, we rely heavily on automation. In addition to reconciling trades and positions around the globe, HRT’s Middle Office team collaborates with stakeholders across the firm to research corporate actions, maintain commissions programs, and track all costs incurred by our trading. We’re looking for someone detail-oriented to lead these efforts in our Dublin, Ireland office.

Being a member of Middle Office at HRT means working on a tight-knit, highly productive team. The ideal candidate loves utilizing technology and automation tools to work on a wide scope of operational projects. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across teams are a must, along with a can-do, no-task-too-small attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing processes, relationships, and systems to identify opportunities for improvement, automation, and growth within HRT’s Middle and Back Office functions.
  • Design systems to consolidate different workflows within Middle Office into more streamlined processes.
  • Collaborate with other offices around the world to create uniformity among Middle and Back Office policies and procedures.
  • Reconcile daily position, statement, cash, and PnL breaks, coordinating with both internal and external parties.
  • Optimize the onboarding of new initiatives with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work with technical teams to automate processes.
  • Document complex processes to develop clear Middle Office and Back Office procedural guidelines.

Profile:

  • Strong familiarity with European markets and their unique post-trade lifecycle needs.
  • 7+ years of experience in external relationship management, including technology vendors, European prime brokers, European banks, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience with managing teams.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of UNIX operating systems is preferred (we use Linux).
  • Some experience in Python is preferred, but eagerness to learn is required.
  • You have excellent communication skills and enjoy working closely with people across multiple teams.
  • Ability to quickly pivot and adapt to changing internal and external goals.
  • You take ownership of your work and are willing to admit and learn from mistakes.
  • You can debug, analyze, and troubleshoot problems quickly under pressure.
  • You thrive when working with people who challenge you and help you improve.
  • You are analytical by nature, with a high attention to detail.
  • You can effectively maintain accuracy while processing large amounts of information within a specific timeline.
  • You are excited to work independently in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
