Senior Product Control Accountant

Hudson River Trading is looking for a highly motivated accounting professional with a background in financial services to be a contributing member of the Product Control team. You will have the opportunity to support various functions within Product Control such as trading P&L reconciliation, financial product research, new trading onboarding, P&L attribution and analysis. In addition, you will collaborate with developers to design and implement tools and reports relating to various trading reconciliation and reporting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily T+1 trading P&L reconciliations across various asset classes including trading gains/losses, dividends, interest, and commissions.
  • Prepare trading P&L attribution for Traders and provide commentary on any reconciling/adjusting items. 
  • Work with our Middle Office group and external brokers to reconcile daily position and cash breaks as well as troubleshoot processing of corporate actions.
  • Perform month-end closing procedures associated with trading in both regulated and non-regulated entities across the globe.
  • Assist with onboarding new trading into existing technology and platforms, including post-trade and general ledger systems.
  • Perform necessary accounting research on an as needed basis and provide recommendations to management for proper treatment of specific financial products and complex trading transactions.
  • Collaborate with other accounting functions (FP&A, legal entity control, external reporting and regulatory reporting) to support the overall business needs by managing trading related financial information requests. 
  • Work with our tax department to provide trading P&L analysis in connection with tax filings and collaborate in connection with new trading launches.
  • Collaborate with our Treasury group to maintain efficient margin and FX exposure across our brokerage accounts. 
  • Assist in the creation and design of automated reports requested by management.
  • Test and utilize automated tools for reconciliation and profit reports. Automated tools can include utilizing Unix commands, SQL queries, and running scripts in Python.
  • Work with relational databases and set up reports using simple SQL queries.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or quantitative discipline.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in a Big 4/large national firm or relevant industry. 
  • Investment accounting/financial product experience is preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills, VBA/SQL experience preferred.
  • A CPA License a plus.
  • Excellent communications skills; articulate, persuasive, and tactful.
  • Must be detail-oriented and must be able to multitask with strong time management skills.

Annual base salary range of $90,000 to $120,000. Pay (base and bonus) may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package, in addition to company-paid medical and/or other benefits.
