You’ll be joining at an exciting stage of development, with the opportunity to be a part of a team increasing the value India brings to Jane Street globally. We are looking for people to join JSI who can work together with others to build a sense of community in a smaller office environment. Each team member will have a chance to make a lasting impact at the foundational level.

About the Position

The Operations team is critical to our trading effort — it manages the processes that connect us to each other and the outside world. We aim to move assets, information and ideas in ways that are accurate, controlled and efficient. There are many tough problems to solve and we are looking for exceptional, smart people to tackle them in our fast-paced and collaborative environment.

You’ll work closely with external service providers and trading partners, as well as colleagues in your local office and around the world. Together, you’ll resolve issues that arise from our complex trading flows and ensure our processes are running smoothly.

You will mainly manage the operations of our stock broking business in India and will help with regional operational projects as part of the broader APAC team.  You’ll also engage with a wide range of financial products and frequently interact with the Operations teams in Hong Kong and London. Additional responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Staying informed of exchange/SEBI guidelines in relation to broking, clearing and risk management
  • Handling communication with external brokers and clearing members
  • Maintaining and managing operational processes as per regulatory framework to ensure exchange compliance
  • Knowledge of back office operations software and vendor management
  • Preparing and submitting daily, weekly and other periodic reporting for the NSE/BSE
  • Trade, transaction and position reconciliations
  • Preparing and submitting delivery instructions for proprietary and client trading
  • Processing trade files for daily transactions
  • Handling regulatory audits of SEBI, exchanges, etc. alongside the Compliance team
  • Preparing various MIS reports

  • Enjoys working with large data sets to find patterns and identify irregularities
  • Can easily navigate Excel and loves to find faster ways to process data
  • Self-starter and critical thinker who cares about the details and can multitask in a fast-moving, highly intellectual environment
  • Humble about what you do and don’t know; not afraid to ask questions
  • Reliable and flexible team player with a positive demeanor
  • Fluency in English and good communication skills required
