India Tax Specialist

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Tax Specialist to fill a newly created role on our expanding APAC Tax team. This role is based in our Mumbai office and offers a rewarding opportunity to gain regional tax experience while joining a firm that is growing both in Asia and globally. 

You will work closely with colleagues and external stakeholders to manage tax filing deadlines, review ongoing tax law changes to identify their potential impact on the firm and assist with audits and enquiries raised by tax authorities.

Additional responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Corporate Income tax return compliance and filings, advance tax payments, and assessments for domestic companies and FPIs
  • Goods and services (GST) tax return compliance and filings, preparation of GST reconciliation schedules, and managing the internal GST processes
  • Tax deduction at source (TDS) tax return compliance and filings, preparation of TDS reconciliation schedules and, managing the internal TDS processes
  • Transfer pricing (TP) study report reviews, Form 3CEB reviews and filings and master file notification filings and submissions
  • CBCR/FATCA/CRS and other tax compliance filings
  • Building internal controls over tax disclosures in the financial reports, and preparing various reconciliations between accounting records and tax returns
  • Working closely with our global Tax team and reporting to the Tax Director Asia to ensure ongoing business support

About You

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) in India with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in a tax role
  • Profound knowledge of taxation in India from a financial services or large accountancy firm; in-house tax experience is an advantage but not mandatory
  • Knows how to handle statutory tax, GST audits and tax officers’ audit enquiries
  • Wants to learn a variety of tax processes and significantly broaden your experience
  • Effective communicator who can describe detailed problems with brevity and accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical sense 
  • Can prioritize and manage multiple workflows
  • Experienced in automating tax preparation processes; able to identify and reduce process inefficiencies
  • Fluency in English required
