Operation Support Technician

Job Description:

Kershner Trading Group is a leading proprietary trading and technology firm, headquartered in Austin, Texas with offices in midtown Manhattan, NY, Chicago, IL and London. We provide capital and infrastructure to in-house quantitative and discretionary traders. Beside the hardware and networking infrastructure, our infrastructure includes a couple of different trading platform unique to KTG. You will collaborate with the development team and end users to help support these tools in a fast paced environment. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Responsible for the end user support of both internal/external clients and employees, providing facilities support for the Austin office, and verifying systems are up and running each morning before trading hours.


Principal duties will include:

  • User support - Level-1 and level-2 production end-user support for trading and analytics system. Answer support calls and assist users. Investigate, identifying, and resolve user and application problems in a timely manner.
  • Hardware – Maintain, repair, and deploy new computer related hardware – desktops, laptops, monitors, network printers, local printers, copier/fax/scanner units, PA system, and other IT equipment
  • Monitoring - Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes.

  • Software – Support all end user software and parts of the trading systems.
  • Deployment activities - Deploy new software to trader workstations and servers as needed. Will also be responsible for testing the software after the rollout.
  • Facilities – Changing printer cartridges, troubleshooting fax machine/printer problems, managing facilities upgrades or problems (A/C, cable, PA system, Appliances, etc….)
  • Corporate Services – Setting up emails, domain accounts, file shares, slack, etc.

Required Experience: 3 Years experience in Microsoft/Linux administration and end user support

We are seeking an individual with the following qualifications:

  • Ability to work well and troubleshoot quickly in a fast-paced, time-critical environment
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a computer, systems administration, and software support role
  • Strong customer services skills required
  • Proficient with Windows Windows 10 - 11, Server 2012 – 2019, and Linux
  • Working knowledge of a LAN, WAN, TCPIP, and client/server systems
  • Able to work flexible Hours. Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as well occasional weekend maintenance

 

Primary work hours will be 7:00 - 4:00 CST and required to physically be in the office.

Physical demands related to the position include:

Lifting and moving PCs, Monitors, Printers, UPS, other computer-related equipment.
