Lead Hybrid Infrastructure Engineer

Summary: Overhaul/re-design and maintenance of customized production-grade Kubernetes infrastructure and disaster recovery processes for big data and big compute, both edge and in the cloud.

The Lead Hybrid Infrastructure Engineer will join the engineering/devops team of a rapidly growing global start-up in the Alternative Data and FinTech space. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining our next generation of high-availability Kubernetes clusters both edge and at various cloud providers (initially Vultr, Azure, AWS), including features such as multicast support, automated provisioning of network-attached block storage to satisfy persistent volume claims, usage reporting APIs and in-cluster security policies for use with namespacing. For edge work you will be responsible for all networking, storage and compute hardware provisioning and configuration to support k8s. You will be responsible for creating and testing disaster recovery plans for: block storage/filesystems, network-attached storage (NFS and cloud-equivalents) and for S3-compatible storage. Your work in the backup/restore area will involve a working knowledge of maintaining Postgres consistency. Through your team, you will provide 24/7/365 support for application infrastructure. Your efforts will enable numerous innovative technologies and products that accelerate sales for data vendor clients as well as empowering global fundamental and quantitative investment managers to generate a higher ROI on their data purchases.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher – Technical

Expert in:

  • Network administration
  • Network attached storage administration
  • Linux administration
  • Kubernetes management (both on-prem and in the cloud, kubectl + explain/defend your choice of other tools)
  • Backup/restore/redundancy strategies
  • Proficient in:
  • bash scripting
  • Python
  • Docker build
  • git (workflow: rebasing dev branches on fast-forward-only master prior to merge)
  • SQL (Postgres)
More than a passing familiarity with:
  • Windows
  • Azure DevOps pipelines
Excellent English communication skills (verbal, written)
Excellent technical research skills, self-taught
Sedulous

Would be great if you also have experience with:

  • Grafana
  • Prefect
  • C++
