Head of Wealth Platform Non-Financial Risk, Division Director – Banking and Financial Services Group

About the role

Within the Wealth Product and Technology Division (Wealth P&T), our primary business is the provision of choice platform products to superannuation members and IDPS clients, with over $100 billion in funds under administration. The Wealth platform offers a large investment menu covering a wide range of asset classes and a sophisticated digital user experience so that members and clients (assisted by their financial advisers) can manage and monitor their portfolio and financial position in a dynamic way.

You will be responsible for building, leading and guiding a team of risk and assurance professionals who oversee and manage the implementation of the Macquarie Group operational risk framework. You and your team will work closely with a large number of senior stakeholders across the ecosystem to uplift, build and strengthen risk and control management practices in the Wealth business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior leader to strategically build out a first line risk team to meet the needs of the business. As an integral part of the Wealth P&T Leadership team, you will be pivotal in enhancing and shaping our current practices and overall risk framework.

Key responsibilities include

  • Partnering with business stakeholders across the Superannuation, IDPS and Managed Accounts value chains and across the three legal entities supporting the business to drive the practical implementation of risk management practices.
  • Driving a consistent approach to the implementation of the Issues & Incidents Policy and Remediation Frameworks, including oversight and end-to-end management of issues, incidents and remediation.
  • Developing and executing a first line assurance program.
  • Driving the evolution and uplift of the three product value chains (Superannuation, IDPS and Managed Accounts) and aligning value chain assessment and reporting to the Wealth legal entities.
  • Reporting and communicating risk matters to Senior Management and Subsidiary Boards, while driving automation and a data-driven approach to risk reporting.
  • Reviewing, uplifting and building out business controls, as well as managing the Risk and Control Self-Assessment process across Wealth P&T.
  • Leading and advising the business to maintain effective processes and controls to achieve compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, including leading Post Implementation Reviews and Thematic Risk Reviews.
  • Leading risk and governance projects, in consultation with a large group of stakeholders, to further strengthen the Platform’s risk and control environment.
  • Identifying and driving risk efficiency and simplification initiatives.

About you

Extensive experience in a leadership position within a financial institution along with knowledge of wealth products and platforms (superannuation and IDPS) and risk management practices. In addition, university qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Law, or similar disciplines are also highly desirable
