Data Analyst – Portfolio Performance Group

We are looking for an analytical and diligent Data Analyst to join our Portfolio Performance group (PPG), within our Macquarie Asset management division (MAM) in Sydney. 

The Portfolio Performance Group (PPG) is a new group, recently established within MAM, to enhance our traditional active approach to managing and driving performance of portfolio companies across our Real Assets business.  PPG is a lean group of functional experts who work alongside investment teams and portfolio company management to identify key risks and opportunities in the portfolio and work collaboratively to implement initiatives to address those.

Globally the Portfolio Performance Group will comprise of functional specialists across Transformation and Operations, WHS, Human Capital, Sustainability, IT and Cyber Security, Construction, Procurement and Data Science.

As a Data Analyst within the team, you will provide support across all PPG functions on data collection and analysis, database management, data visualization and reporting. 

You will actively engage with PPG members, investment team members, and portfolio companies to deliver outcomes outlined by the PPG Functional Lead. This will include implementing and managing databases and establishing a data governance framework for maintaining accurate and timely information.  You will identify and recommend new processes and systems to make working with data more efficient and partner with portfolio management team members to validate data submissions and assess discrepancies. 

Collaborating closely with PPG Functional Leads and investment team members you will analyse data sets and establish KPIs, targets and expected business impact of transition plans, transformation plans, or ad hoc project based work.  You will also be required to build presentations and present relevant content to various stakeholder audiences including Macquarie Board, MAM Senior Leadership, PPG Functional & Investment Leaders, and Management teams. 

With a tertiary qualification in a relevant field, you will have 2-4 years of experience in data analytics, ideally within a consulting or financial services environment.  You will be skilled in understanding data analysis to effectively interpret findings in a way that makes sense to end users.  You will be highly organized, analytical, and committed to sharing knowledge and learning from others.  You will have strong time management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and projects effectively.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential
