Equity High Touch Trader - Americas

As an Equity High Touch Trader – Americas, you will focus on trading the Americas markets, based in New York or Philadelphia.  You will focus on the more complicated orders on the desk. The desk is sectorized and there is an expectation that you will add value through proactive engagement both internally and externally and will work directly with portfolio managers and the sell-side to manage implementation costs, access liquidity, and achieve best execution.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Handling the day-to-day execution and liquidity solutions role working closely with PM’s and the Street and the goal is to implement PM’s decisions effectively and efficiently, seeking to minimize implementation costs and maximize value to the client.
  • Being commercial both internally and externally will provide the ability to have a positive impact on the investment process. Engage with the investment team to gain a solid understanding of fund construction, PM trading style, benchmarks, strategy, and thesis. Proactively develop and maintain Street relationships to understand the tactical landscape to contribute to the investment process around liquidity opportunities and options for execution.
  • Proactively seeking ways to add value around execution. Have an opinion or viewpoint and share that with the investment team when the opportunity presents itself.
  • Understanding electronic trading and TCA. Broker algorithms, venue analysis, order types and looking at results through TCA for continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrating and explaining Best Execution thought process through all market conditions. Demonstrating market structure understanding and ability to adapt to structural change conditions.
  • Disseminating relevant market news and commentary.
  • Ability to flag risks as they pop up on the desk (Operational, Market and Reputational). Highlighting process inefficiencies/issues.
  • Adapting work rate to meet fluctuations in desk activity. Understanding and valuing partnerships that contribute to business results.

Your background will include:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience trading equity markets
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks/activities in a fast-paced environment
  • An entrepreneurial spirit centered around growth
  • Fundamental and Technical understanding of market dynamics
  • Familiarity with middle-office workflow and ability to assist with this function is a plus
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills and team-oriented mindset is critical.
  • Analytical skill set recommended.
  • Experience in a programming language for data analytics (Python) is a plus
  • Aladdin and Portware experience is a plus
  • Strong attention to details
