Associate/Manager, Operational Risk - Principal Finance

We are looking for you to join Macquarie Capital as an experienced Operational Risk Associate/Manager supporting Macquarie's Principal Finance business.  This role will be based in New York.

This is an exciting opportunity working with the Principal Finance product offerings include, Private Equity, Private Credit & Real Estate. Principal Finance invests in development and operational companies across Software & Telecommunications, Real Estate, Healthcare and various other sectors.  In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Principal Finance Americas business in the application and continuous improvement of its governance and risk management framework. You will collaborate with senior business and support area stakeholders to ensure risks are effectively identified, managed and monitored.  The role will report into the Principal Finance Global Business Operational Risk Management Lead (based in London).

You will:

  • Provide risk advice to the business as they execute transactions and manage/oversee their portfolio of assets.
  • Work alongside deal teams and review due-diligence reports to ensure that key non-financial risks arising from new business opportunities and asset acquisitions are identified and can be appropriately mitigated.
  • Help develop and oversee risk management frameworks at the asset level throughout the asset ownership lifecycle to ensure that risks are appropriately identified and managed.
  • Drive effective application of Macquarie’s Operational Risk Management Framework in the Principal Finance business. This includes facilitating workshops with senior business and support area stakeholders to confirm that the Macquarie Capital’s Risk and Control Self-Assessment reflects the business risk and control profile.
  • Work with the business to investigate Operational Risk Incidents and Issues; and assist in problem solving and developing appropriate remediation action plans.
  • Prepare risk reports and analysis to support management in fulfilling their oversight responsibilities
  • Promote a healthy risk culture through regular staff training and communications

To be successful in this role, you will enjoy working in a dynamic and collaborative environment with at least 4 years of cumulative experience in governance, risk management or asset reviews, ideally in the principal investing or investment banking sector. You will see yourself as a curious self-starter, with strong problem-solving skills. Attention to detail and strong communication skills are integral so that you can not only build good relationships, engendering trust and confidence, but also be able to question and mediate stakeholders where necessary.

Salary range for this position: $90,000-$180,000 per year.  Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. The successful candidate may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
