Operational Risk and BEAR Senior Manager, CEO Office

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager with a Risk or Legal background to join the Macquarie Bank Limited (MBL) CEO Office reporting to the Head of the MBL CEO Office.

Joining the MBL CEO Office team will offer you exposure to a broad spectrum of bank-related matters and frameworks across Macquarie. In this role you will assist the MBL CEO with the enhancement, implementation and maintenance of their Banking Executive Accountability Regime (BEAR) accountability obligations, including their ‘Reasonable Steps’. You will also ensure Operational Risk within the MBL CEO Office is appropriately addressed and managed in line with our Operational Risk Management framework (ORMF). In this role, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ongoing enhancement, implementation, and maintenance of the MBL CEO BEAR Compliance plan.
  • Conduct monitoring and assurance of compliance with the MBL CEO BEAR accountability obligations.
  • Develop, plan and conduct line 1 assurance over risks and controls within the MBL CEO Office
  • Oversee all areas of the ORMF such as risk assessments and reviewing controls assurance activities.
  • Identify and recommend commercial and pragmatic solutions and control improvements to identified risks and issues
  • Provide MBL CEO with performance reporting with respect to compliance with BEAR obligations and risks within the MBL CEO Office.

You will have experience working within operational risk management, audit and/or control assurance in the financial services sector either in house or in professional services. Alternatively, you will have experience with Accountability Regimes such as BEAR. You will possess strong communication skills; ability to engage with a diverse and senior set of stakeholders and build effective working relationships.

Your organisational skills, attention to detail, the ability to present to senior stakeholders (both written and verbal) and work both independently as well as collaboratively, in addition to your positive and constructive approach to problem solving, tenacity, agility, and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, output focused environment will be vital in this role.

The MBL CEO Office is part of Macquarie’s Central Executive and was recently established to co-ordinate MBL-specific activity and provide additional safeguards to manage potential conflicts of interest between MBL and Macquarie Group Limited, to better protect the interests of MBL.  The MBL CEO Office is an important part of Macquarie’s overall commitment to strengthening MBL’s governance and risk management capabilities.
