Technical Business Analyst

Join an exciting new team in Group Treasury, Risk, Reporting, Analytics and Platforms (GT RRAP) and be a part of helping design, implement and deliver business solutions that are optimal and compliant with policies and standards of the group.

There are plans to roll out our project delivery process and to support businesses with BA expertise as required, opening an array of opportunities for professional development and growth.  We have several openings from analysts without direct project experience to those who have a few years of project experience at a major bank.

We are seeking analysts who have business orientated skills rather than analysts who are focused on technical design and development. Those who have relevant financial markets experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

What impacts will you have?

As a Business Analyst, you will:

  • Work closely with senior BA leads, business and technical stakeholders to understand and document their requirements at various stages of delivery.

  • Be involved in uplift activities involving User Developed Applications (UDAs) and Platforms to ensure compliant documentation and robust procedures are followed for all production bound applications.

  • Understand the importance of data in the group’s processes and how this impacts users downstream particularly for capital, funding and liquidity reporting.

  • Think through and design risk reduction strategies around the delivery of data for consumption by various applications and platforms by identifying vulnerabilities and implementing appropriate controls.

  • Understand and elicit business requirements regarding the transformation of data by articulating business and calculation rules for reporting outputs.

  • Maintain and update data related artefacts such as logs and registers as required.

  • Draft various levels of business documentation by breaking down and simplifying complex issues into a format that is easily understood by business stakeholders.

  • Draft standard operating procedures, desk instructions and guides for business users.

  • Liaise with technology teams to translate business and functional requirements into a technical solution consistent with business objectives.

  • Work with technology teams to manage data sourcing and the delivery of applications and co-ordinate testing of data feeds and outputs from a business perspective.

About you

To be successful in the role you will bring your prior SME BAU experience and/or a few years of project experience in the financial markets to GT RRAP. As a SME Analyst you will be expected to demonstrate an awareness of front to back process, data and systems flows, and be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of processes, data and controls in your area of expertise. You will also have a desire to learn how to document and deliver on business initiatives. For Business Analysts with project experience, you should be able to demonstrate your knowledge of the project delivery lifecycle and how you produced the artefacts needed to realise an initiative in production. Exposure to enterprise data principles and big data platforms / tools such as SQL, Alteryx and Power BI is desirable but not essential.

You will also:

  • Recognise the critical importance of data and have a passion for getting it right.

  • Embrace change, able to flex and adapt to the changing needs of our dynamic business.

  • Excellent analytical capacity supported by clear and concise communication skills.

  • A focus on high quality and timely delivery, well-developed process skills and the ability to prioritise and manage parallel tasks and project deliverables.

  • You will thrive working in an environment with evolving priorities and requiring a flexible and innovative mindset.

  • Ability to assimilate information and a curiosity to ask appropriate questions to develop business and functional requirements.

  • Have a good command of MS applications and tools such as JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within and across teams.

  • Have an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset.
