Division Director - Head of Data Enablement Office, Sydney

An opportunity exists for a dynamic and commercially minded individual to join our Enterprise division to oversee the end-to-end processes of how MAM utilizes data, including helping set the overall MAM data strategy for our Macquarie Asset Management (MAM) business across Asia Pacific.

The Enterprise division is made up of the operational and enablement functions within Macquarie Asset Management, including Private Market Fund Management, Investment Operations and Fund Services in Public Investments, as well as Digital, Data and Platforms and Transformation and Projects.

Leveraging your passion and strong track record in data management you will be responsible for leading and optimizing this newly created function with a significant opportunity to create impact and support MAM’s ambition to become a more digital and data-driven business globally.  Reporting into our Global Head of Digital, Data and Products you will lead senior stakeholder engagement and business partnering, while managing several existing teams that have a MAM-wide remit, encompassing the following elements:

  • Data strategy – Further developing and implementing our MAM data strategy that supports and aligns MAM business strategy and Enterprise objectives with data and technology architecture.
  • Data governance – Supporting the MAM Group Data Officer, focused on federating data under governance across MAM in a sustainable fashion and ensuring compliance with enterprise data management policy and standards.
  • Data industrialization – Supporting MAM’s Head of Data Strategy to continue realizing MAM’s data platform and provisioning good, clean, and trusted data to all of MAM’s data consumers.
  • Data culture – Establishing a much stronger MAM approach to data literacy and the adoption of a data-focused culture.
  • Data ownership – At a global level across MAM, as well as relevant Group-wide data, optimizing data domains (i.e., logical units of data relating to a specific topic) in coordination with product teams.
  • Data compliance – Supporting teams in place to ensure that MAM data, documents and access to tools remain in compliance with organizational or regulatory rules.
  • Data as an asset – In coordination with MAM’s Chief Analytics Officer, continue to explore ways in which MAM can monetize its data.

With a tertiary qualification in a relevant field, you will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience, with a demonstrable track record of leadership and delivery of projects across data, including data architecture, warehousing and analytics. A strong understanding and capability in data governance would also be highly desirable.  Strong leadership, strategic and critical thinking skills with a track record of project execution will be highly regarded.

We require someone to work both independently and collaboratively under ambiguity to deliver results.  Proven experience succeeding in a complex stakeholder environment, with strong relationship building and influencing skills and the ability to drive change would be essential.

You will be a self-starter with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and an ability to operate with minimal guidance.   You will possess excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate, clearly and credibly.  You will bring a spirit of collaboration, positivity, and teamwork whilst displaying the highest levels of integrity, accountability and empathy.
