2023 Commodities and Global Markets Summer Analyst Internship Program

The program
Our fast-paced ten-week internship program will provide you with hands-on experience in the world of financial services.
The program kicks off with an orientation providing you with the opportunity to learn about the Macquarie business groups, meet fellow interns and expand your network.
On the desk, you’ll be given meaningful and challenging work allowing you to gain practical experience to tie into your theoretical knowledge from school. You will receive support from your manager and aligned mentor. And additionally, participate in philanthropic and social events to connect you to our collaborative culture. To conclude your summer, you will present a project that you worked on during the program to senior management.
The role
As an intern with our Commodities and Global Markets team, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills and build your career as you learn from in-house experts: geologists, meteorologists, petroleum and mining engineers, to name a few.
Learn from our industry experts within the CGM business through a direct placement based on your interest and our business need. In our New York office, we offer internships in the following four areas and our Houston office offers Commodity Markets and Finance (CMF).
• Commodity Markets and Finance (CMF) provides risk management, lending and financing, and physical execution and logistics services across the energy, metals and agricultural sectors globally. The division also offers commodity-based index products to institutional investors. You will contribute to pricing and projects in commodities that analyze credit risk, market risk, and operational risk to assess both exposures and returns on capital in a bank environment. Opportunities also exist to assess market conditions and fundamentals to help our customers make good risk management decisions.
• Credit Markets (CMD) works to provide solutions to monetize and leverage credit assets. The team works with clients to structure bespoke solutions where they finance, trade, or invest in credit assets across residential mortgages, consumer loans, corporate loans and small business loans. You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior management to provide trading and financing solutions to non-traditional lenders and alternative asset investors operating in the private debt, fintech lending, and structured credit markets.
• Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) provides currency and fixed income trading and hedging services to a range of corporate and institutional clients globally and has been a leading provider of foreign exchange transactional services for more than 20 years. You will be exposed to a fast-paced sales and trading environment. You will learn about how the markets function on the macro landscape. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn about a wide array of products from spot and forwards to structured options and intricacies of covering a range of clients from hedge large PE and hedge funds to corporates and family offices.
• Specialized & Asset Finance (SAF) delivers a diverse range of tailored finance solutions globally across a variety of industries and asset classes. You will be part of an asset finance business that is contributing to the energy transition and supporting the sustainability and decarbonisation goals of our clients; designing financing solutions to help clients stay up to date with the latest technology; providing innovative and tailored capital solutions to support renewable energy, zero emission mobility and sustainable waste management; and developing bespoke loan solutions for clients. You will have the opportunity to research new exciting live opportunity, develop your financial modelling skills, and prepare and present your work to senior stakeholders. Additionally, you will work with asset finance and industry experts and gain exposure to portfolio management, risk analysis, and be involved in the creation of transaction documents.
About you

With a strong interest in financial services, you bring a proactive, resourceful, and positive attitude as well as a powerful work ethic. You have a strong attention to detail with experience and comfort in Excel.
