Insights Analyst | Credit Risk

We have an exciting opportunity for an Insights Analyst to join our Credit Risk team, who support risk management within the Banking and Financial Services division. Enjoy playing a key role in the full credit risk management lifecycle across our retail lending products.

About the team
Our Banking and Financial Services Group’s Credit Risk team provides collections and portfolio risk management and regulatory reporting for our retail banking products such as home loans, car loans and credit cards. Working in collaboration with the Personal Banking ecosystem - including product, compliance, data, operations, and technology teams – we help optimise business opportunities within acceptable risk parameters. We also maintain close working ties with our central Risk Management Group to develop risk acceptance criteria, and implement risk governance.

What will you do?

As an Insights Analyst, you will develop, enhance, and maintain reporting and dashboards produced within the Credit Risk team, along with identifying initiatives to improve automation, manage data quality, and update technical documentation/user guides. The work you do will help ensure that our portfolio of credit-related retail banking products meet regulatory and compliance requirements. You will also:

  • Provide reporting on key portfolio metrics related to customer default management
  • Analyse credit risk related data and systems, and understand how they impact the credit risk lifecycle
  • Identify and investigate trends/insights from internally sourced data to generate an understanding of our risk profile, and present this information to stakeholders
  • Draw insights on the drivers behind trends/movements in key regulatory reporting metrics
  • Contribute to projects to develop strategic initiatives across the credit risk lifecycle, and enhance our regulatory reporting capability
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including internal data teams and the centralised Risk Management Group.

What skills will you use?

To be successful, you will enjoy delving into dashboards and reporting with a passion for understanding key customer insights from a risk perspective. You will be flexible, able to shift gears to support adapting priorities, and multitask whilst retaining attention to detail in your work. As a strong team player, you have a positive attitude to work, enjoy building relationships with your team and stakeholders, and have the ability to work independently where required.

You will also bring:

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in an Insights/Analytics or Risk Reporting role, where you have used data analysis and visualisation tools such as SQL/Hive, Alteryx, Tableau, R Markdown, etc., and at least one scripting language (i.e. R, SAS, SQL, VBA or Python)
  • Experience within banking and financial services, or a strong interest
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ideally, you will be degree qualified in a STEM discipline i.e. Computer Science, Engineering, Maths, Statistics, Economics, or another quantitative discipline

If you are looking for your next career move and the above sounds like you, please apply online now. We work flexibly with 2-3 days in the office per week and from home, and are open to applicants based in Sydney and Brisbane.
