Senior Analyst, Credit Risk Analytics

You will join a team that manages credit risk across our small business lending products, residential mortgages, asset finance and credit cards. Your focus will be on business banking product, working in collaboration with the Business Banking ecosystem, including product, sales, operations and technology to enhance our commercial lending credit risk appetite and policies.  

This team you will be part of will be evolving and managing our commercial lending credit risk policy and leveraging credit risk portfolio reporting, risk insights, industry data and customer and employee ecosystem feedback to enhance our credit risk policies and guidelines. Our Banking and Financial Services Credit Risk team also maintains close working ties with our central risk management group, relating to the development of risk acceptance criteria and risk governance. 

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Understanding commercial lending credit risk and how they relate to the credit risk lifecycle  
  • Enhancing and maintaining a suite of existing management reporting produced within the Credit Risk team, including identifying initiatives to improve automation, managing data quality, and updating technical documentation and user guides
  • Identifying and investigating trends and insights from internal and external data to understand and inform stakeholders of our risk profile
  • Contributing to projects to develop strategic initiatives across the credit risk lifecycle
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders, including internal data teams and the centralised risk management group.
  • Responding to Ad-hoc requests for portfolio level insights or specific portfolio subsets

You will have the opportunity to solve complex, bespoke problems and need to approach existing and new problems with a critical but positive mindset. You will be part of a team that is focused on improving existing processes and fostering innovations that support strategic decision making by Macquarie’s senior leadership.

Strong analytical skills, willingness to learn, competency in working with large volumes of data, as well as the ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders at all levels is highly

To be successful, you will be degree qualified in a STEM discipline i.e., Computer Science,Engineering, Maths, Statistics, Economics, or another quantitative discipline

You will also need:

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in a risk-based role, preferably in the financial services sector, with coding ability in at least one scripting language i.e., R, SAS, SQL, Alteryx or Python
  • Experience with data analysis and visualisation tools such as SQL/Hive, , Tableau, R
  • Markdown and so on.
  • Policy writing experience in Financial Services
  • Experience in credit underwriting in Wholesale lending business 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be flexible, and the ability to work individually as well within a team
