2023 Risk Management Group Summer Internship Program-Credit (NY/Houston)

The program
Our unique ten-week internship program will provide you with hands-on experience working in risk management for a global financial company.  

The program kicks off with an orientation providing you with the opportunity to learn about the Macquarie business groups as you meet your fellow interns and expand your network. 

On the desk, you’ll be given meaningful and challenging work allowing you to gain practical experience to tie into your theoretical knowledge from school. You will receive support from your manager and aligned mentor. And additionally, participate in philanthropic and social events to connect you to our inclusive culture. To conclude your summer, you will present a project that you worked on during the program to senior management. 

The role
As an intern in the Risk Management Group, you’ll discover how a sound risk culture has been integral to Macquarie’s risk management framework since inception.  

Learn from our industry experts through a direct placement based on your interest and our business need in one of the following areas: 

Credit
Our Credit division's role is to assess and approve all material credit risk undertaken by Macquarie. The team analyses significant transactions and initiatives and assesses the strengths and weaknesses of new transactions to present their recommendations to Macquarie's senior management. 

In this New York-based role, you will gain exposure to several asset classes including leveraged loans, high yield bonds, mezzanine debt, leases and equity investments across a number of industries. You will work on transactions primarily related to Macquarie’s Debt Capital Markets, Principal Finance, and Fixed Income Currency and Commodities businesses. 

In this Houston-based role, you will be exposed to a wide range of trading activities and lending transactions that are conducted by the Macquarie Group in the energy sector. You will work on transactions primarily related to the Commodity Markets and Finance division in North America which includes Macquarie’s oil, gas, and power businesses.   

About you
You have a unique perspective. We want to hear it. This internship is for exceptional rising juniors (Class of 2024) who are ready to share their voice and step into our bottom-up culture which asks interns to push boundaries, challenge processes and examine a problem from all angles.  

You are a critical thinker with exceptional numerical skills who express their thoughts and ideas clearly. You like to collaborate with others and are comfortable building strong working relationships.  

With a strong interest in financial services, you bring a proactive, resourceful, and positive attitude as well as a powerful work ethic. You have a strong attention to detail with experience and comfort in Excel. 

Internship Disclosure
For New York based jobs: Estimated salary amount is the equivalent of $58,000 annually, prorated for the length of time of the internship.  Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
