Credit Analyst - Distressed and Special Situations

Join Macquarie Asset Management, a world-class asset management firm, as a Credit Analyst focusing on Distressed/ Special Situations. You will report to the Head of Fixed-Income research and work with our Distressed Team and have a key role in the management of the firm’s distressed assets platform. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting portfolio managers and analysts in managing distressed debt workouts and investments
  • Participating in and leading time-intensive processes in conjunction with the existing distressed workout professional
  • Engaging market participants and restructuring advisor/attorney community to assist with existing situations and uncover new opportunities—deep relationship set is vital.
  • Analyzing and providing recommendations on relevant legal documents (bond indentures, credit agreements, etc.) as an initial, in-house legal opinion – legal acumen is very helpful.
  • Negotiating, structuring, and implementing restructuring support agreements and related financing.
  • Providing fundamental investment recommendations on distressed opportunities across sectors, for both existing positions and new situations.
  • Covering a variety of distressed situations (pre-bankruptcy, during bankruptcy and post-reorganization) for public and private placement holdings in conjunction with industry analyst
  • Building/maintaining financial models, including valuation and restructuring waterfall recovery models
  • Assisting in updating and maintaining of internal credit research reports and notes/database
  • Keeping PM's and Traders updated on all news items related to companies within assigned responsibilities
  • Providing periodic updates and credit-oriented documentation as required by specific clients
  • Serving on internal Workout Committee in conjunction with the Chair, and actively participate in workout discussions with clients and counterparts in activist creditor role
  • Working with middle office and compliance to assist in valuation and accounting of post-reorganized securities
  • Assist in business planning for potential new investment strategies and business ventures.

Your background will include:

  • 5+ years of legal or workout experience
  • BA / BS required
  • JD preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple demands and changing priorities
  • Self starter with ability to work independently and in a team environment
