Head of Non-Financial Risk Optimisation & Delivery

Reporting to the Head of Non Financial Risk within the Financial Management Group, this is a highly influential role interacting with risk and operational stakeholders across Macquarie Group to further embed strong non-financial risk (NFR) management practices and awareness in line with business priorities. It offers and exciting opportunity to build and shape risk management approaches across FMG and the bank more broadly.

As a Division Director and a critical member of the leadership team, you will also be a member of the NFR Leadership Committee. You will act as a delegate for the Head of NFR on occasion representing FMG in senior forums.

Core responsibilities of this role

Risk Management

  • Develop and implement an operating model to facilitate close working relationship with Divisional Heads, Risk Management Group, and the CFO.
  • Enhance the product offering of NFR and ensure we are both responsive and proactive in risk management
  • Work across the FMG leadership team to ensure effective management of non financial risk
  • Oversee the effectiveness of strong risk management activities across FMG, assist with improvements where needed and escalate poor practices where required

Strategy

  • Support the NFR leadership team to enhance and implement and the FMG Strategy
  • Build and maintain strong relationship within the FMG Division Heads, facilitating discussions with businesses on risks, risk management and programs of work with a particular focus on managing risk in change
  • Help drive a tech enabled, data centric risk approach to working across all of NFR and FMG
  • Work with the leadership team to agree clear scope and objectives for NFR
  • Championing the FMG vision, goals, and cultural pillars, promoting a shared commitment to the strategic direction of NFR and FMG

People & Culture

  • People strategy, including empowerment of our people, talent retention, recruitment and people development 
  • Enhance internal and stakeholder facing communications
  • Better define roles and responsibilities to deliver a consistent and robust risk management capability across FMG
  • Review BAU activities with a view to optimise activities and make best use of our talent 

Financial & Budget

  • Lead strategic planning, headcount planning and forecasting of business requirements for the function.
  • Manage BAU and project budgets within defined parameters
  • Coordinating and drafting relevant reporting requirements on behalf of FMG Non Financial Risk function

To succeed in this role, you will be risk focussed, commercially aware, proactive in nature and demonstrate the ability to execute on strategy. An ability to work with a degree of ambiguity and a diverse stakeholder group are essential along with strong communication skills, analytical thinking and proven problem solving ability.
