Senior Portfolio Risk Analyst

The Senior Analyst will join the Equity Risk Analysis Group, a team of seven providing quantitative support to investment teams for equity strategies and multi-asset strategies globally, as well as for the firm's senior management. The team's duties include acquiring and analyzing data related to research projects; designing, building, and maintaining quantitative stock-ranking models; using risk models to understand systematic risk exposures and their consequences; presenting analysis and research results in both written and spoken form; and creating robust, extensible portfolio analytics. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in managing and interpreting data sets related to equity strategies and multi-asset strategies, and enthusiasm for solving problems and communicating the results to end users. The typical duties of the Senior Analyst are likely to include the following:

 

  • Analyze portfolio construction as well as risk and return for equity and multi-asset portfolios, finding creative ways to display research results
  • Build direct line of communication with portfolio management teams
  • Respond to ad-hoc questions from portfolio managers, clients, and other stakeholders
  • Set up and troubleshoot processes to generate and visualize meaningful data sets using standard data sources
  • Efficiently leverage third-party tools, such as FactSet and Bloomberg, and maintain existing processes on these platforms
  • Act as domain expert for other team members as required

 

Key traits

  • Master's degree or higher in Finance, Statistics, Computational Finance, or other relevant field, or equivalent professional experience.  CFA preferred.
  • At least three years of prior experience in a role emphasizing quantitative analysis of equity portfolios
  • Strong programming and scripting skills, with knowledge of at least two of MATLAB, Python, R, SQL, and VBA
  • Demonstrated ability to harness technology to analyze data and gain insights
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a drive to tackle difficult tasks
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and written; public speaking experience a plus.
