Position Specific Description

The position is responsible for trading carbon allowances and offsets in various cap-and-trade markets. This position requires a deep understanding of carbon markets including regulatory market design and competitive marketplace profile. The candidate must have the ability to develop innovative hedging approaches for structured transactions using physical or financial products. The candidate should have a history of successful trading, and should be able to generate p&l from both proprietary and asset-based strategies. The candidate must have an ability to assimilate information from and work closely with multiple disciplines including: market fundamentals, risk management, marketing and origination, credit, finance, commodity traders and quantitative analysts.

Job Overview

This position is responsible for trading energy commodities, options, heat rates, and energy products in various markets the tenure of trade ranges from intraday through 5 years, depending on assigned book. Individuals apply a high level of competency in trading strategies, physical market knowledge, regulatory market design, and competitive marketplace profile.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs individual research, deal entry management, and monthly reconciliation
  • Makes markets for asset optimization groups that are responsible for hedging company's nationwide generation portfolio
  • Applies knowledge of multiple trading transaction systems
  • Manages a profitable proprietary trading book
  • Trains less experienced traders
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 3+ years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree

 

The estimated base pay for this position is $140,000.00 to $210,000.00 per year. Starting pay will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, qualifications, job-related and industry knowledge and skills and education/training.
