ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Apex Client Developer Experience team is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a passion for boosting developer productivity. We want someone who can collaborate across the organisation internally and help us accelerate the development of our clients.

Apex Client Developer Experience team are charged with building the tools our clients use to integrate with our platform. We are reimagining our technology and application stack from the ground up, and our team is responsible for building the next generation APIs and SDKs that will lead our industry for years to come. We are seeking smart developers to build out our cloud-native (GCP), API -first, event-driven Microservices platform.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, peer-review, document and communicate effectively about our high-performance, high-throughput software.

  • Learn from and apply design techniques and coding standards coached by our Principal Engineers and Architects. Collaborate with other members of the team to learn, develop, and deliver designs and coding standards to meet the growing needs of the platform

  • Support the production systems that you design. This includes building, deploying (CI/CD), and monitoring (DataDog, PagerDuty).

  • Write commercial grade, well-tested code, and maintain high code-quality standards across your team through code reviews and developing our quality culture

Education and/or Experience

  • 5+ years of prior work experience as a software developer or similar job roles.

  • Previous experience in API/SDK design, arrazo or OpenAPI a strong plus.

  • Experience mentoring, and coaching other engineers and developing a high performance culture is a plus.

  • Financial services (capital markets, clearing or accounting systems) background is a plus.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent facilitation and collaborative communication skills.

  • Expertise in at least one modern programming language (Java, Golang, Python, etc.).

  • Ability to learn new technologies (languages, tools, frameworks) quickly.

  • Ability to visualize and propose system design, document the design and implement it. 

  • Adaptability: while you enjoy establishing processes and standards, you understand the need to be flexible and enjoy trying new things.
