ABOUT THIS ROLE

Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking an experienced Vice President of Software Engineering to lead the Experience Org. In this role, the leader will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of user experiences for businesses and end-investors who rely on Apex’s industry-leading technology that powers the future of investing.  

 

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead teams of software engineering professionals responsible for B2B and B2C user interfaces across Apex
  • Enhance the User Experience across multiple surfaces and products, including the Apex Ascend Workstation, Augmented Advice, Rebalancing, Investor Apps, Client Portal, and more
  • Drive client and business interactions providing guidance, mentorship, and support
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, finance, product, platform, and security to develop the next generation of world-class wealth management tech
  • Drive innovation by staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in API, frontend, web, and mobile engineering
  • Identify opportunities to leverage new technologies to increase our competitive advantage
  • Innovate and challenge the status quo while abiding by regulatory bodies like the SEC and FINRA
  • Take our responsibility to our regulators and customers very seriously, especially since we are a highly regulated business

 

Desired Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering / engineering leadership, ideally leading teams in highly regulated environments
  • Experience leading B2B and B2C customer-focused teams at both scrappy startups and mature FAANG (or FAANG-like) companies (Apex acts like both of these types of company personas at times!)

 

Desired Skills/Abilities

  • Deep technical expertise in Frontend technologies
  • Experience with React, Typescript, React Native, and Express or similar technologies
  • Backend expertise in Java and/or Golang
  • Familiarity with gRPC services is a plus
  • Hands-on knowledge of cloud engineering in a production environment (GCP, AWS or Azure)
  • Knowledge and experience with consuming real-time data at scale
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Work directly with the CTO, CEO, Head of Product, Head of Legal, and other Apex executives
  • Partner effectively with the VP of Product Experience on a daily basis 

 

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 3 days per week in Austin, Texas
