ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Operations Specialist to join us in our Belfast Centre of Excellence as part of the Apex Clearing team.
What you’ll do day-to-day:
Partner with the business. The core function of the Operations Control Department (OCD) is to support the other operations departments within Apex. We do this by providing oversight and governance as it pertains to depository, firm and bank reconciliations, pricing reviews, regulatory reporting and Possession or Control reviews. Along with these duties, we perform various audits of the department and work closely with Internal Audit. Other work may include reconciliations, both internal and external customer requests, and reporting metrics.
Take care of Apex clients. Answer customer inquiries and requests for information via email and phone. These range from simple to complex queries, with the onus on putting the client first.
Expand industry knowledge. Attain functional knowledge of FINRA and SEC regulations as it pertains to the department functions of Operations Control. Ensure adherence to firm policies and procedures as it relates to these rules.
Challenge the Norm. Review and optimize current processes and best practices within the Operations Control Department
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
3+ years of prior experience required
FINRA Series 99 license preferred at time of hire; candidates demonstrating willingness to obtain
Experience in financial operations around reconciliations, and an audit or compliance background
Proficient in MS office products
Know SQL or display a propensity to learn
Prefer experience with DTCC, NSCC, and other Clearing industry systems
Experience working with internal and external clients
Adaptable to change. As our environment is fast paced, change will occur and you should be able to quickly change directions
Strong customer service and problem solving skills
