As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll have a big impact across Apex Fintech Solutions. The Client Developer experience team strives to build out platforms that makes our client integration a best-in-class experience. You’ll collaborate across multiple teams in this role and will partner primarily with our Belfast team to deliver customer features in a reliable, scalable, and secure product. You will be developing systems and automations for generating our SDK, drive our Open API standards and documentation as well as provide tools and services that will help customers evaluate and integrate to our environment quickly. This is a role for someone who flourishes in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. We routinely encounter and work in different languages, frameworks, systems, and full stack development projects. We value engineers who are proficient in multiple languages because we know they can quickly learn the next one that comes up.


  • Define, develop, deploy, and operate software that delivers real value to Apex. We often work with micro-services, managed by Kubernetes.

  • Think through difficult problems and solve them at all layers of the enterprise.

  • Develop and maintain clean and consistent code for applications that are used internally and externally.

  • Write self-documenting and well-tested code with an emphasis on sustainable development practices. Work as a part of small, productive development team that puts an emphasis on code quality, peer reviews and strong engineering practices.

  • Help grow the team. As one of our engineering team members, you will help recruit the right talent and establish a culture that developers love to work in. Your coaching and mentoring will prove important in growing the technology group.

Education and/or Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)

  • 5+ years of professional experience working as a part of a multi-person development team, doing code reviews, testing, CI, trunk-based development, and/or other software practices.

  • Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes is highly required.

  • Experience of any cloud-based provider (GCP/Azure/AWS) is highly desirable.

  • Experience with developing highly scalable and performant microservices.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Demonstrated skills in software design and development.

  • Expertise in one or more of server-side programming languages including: Java, Go and Python.

  • Knowledge in front-end technologies, including JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5 and third-party libraries such as React Js, Angular, jQuery and LESS.

  • Knowledge in one or more of DBMS technology, including SQLServer, Oracle, My SQL and MongoDB.

  • Ability to visualize and propose system design, document the design and implement it.

  • Ability to learn new and unfamiliar technologies quickly, as required.

  • Adaptability: while you enjoy establishing processes and standards, you understand the need to be flexible and enjoy trying new things.

  • An intuitive understanding of distributed architectures – experience with event-driven architectures is a big plus.

  • A DevSecOps mindset and a driving desire to deliver value through software.
