Apex Clearing is recognized for disrupting the financial services industry, enabling tech-forward standouts like Stash, Facet Wealth, and Betterment.  We’ve got an amazing track record of success and fostering ongoing innovation.  This is an incredible opportunity for a Service and Operations leader to join Apex's leadership team as an Advisory Trading Lead.  You will work closely with our Apex advisory clients, the core Advisory team, onboarding team, technology organization, and business teams in refining the advisory trading support strategy.  Apex employees stand at the leading edge of this disruption and are responsible for collaborating across teams to enhance the customer experience.

Responsibilities and what you will do all day:

  • Design and refine the Apex Advisory trading support and integration strategy around our key advisory client personas and advisory technology platforms supporting them
  • Provide timely service and trading issue resolution to advisory firms and respond to questions they have
  • Collaborate with the Apex trading desk to build out error handling procedures and support model
  • Expand advisor trading needs in areas like fixed income, margin, options, algos, and direct routing 
  • Handle inquiries and operational support with fix trading
  • Proactively educate advisor platforms and clients on paths of connecting to apex and documenting the broader trading workflows, specifying what is accomplished at the trading platform level, advisor level and apex to ensure complete, comprehensive processes
  • Exhibit leadership capabilities, eventually building a team as we grow and scale the advisory business
  • Collaborate with advisory trading platforms to discuss how we can innovate and improve the advisory trading experience together
  • Document the most common trading service workflows and how we can lean into technology to minimize NIGOs (not in good orders) and friction points for our advisory clients and allow them to self-service in real time as opposed to taking the time to call into Apex
  • Collaborate across cross functional business lines including operations, service, compliance, finance, technology, and onboarding to ensure trading processes and procedures have been established and refined to support our advisory clients
  • Document key conversations, takeaways, and drive sequencing and follow up of next steps to ensure progress is made toward developing these procedures
  • No matter how experienced, we are looking for someone who is continuously learning and open to taking new approaches and learning from colleagues

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience working within trading organization with a custodian that supports RIAs
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of RIA landscape, custodial technology, and advisory and custodial workflows
  • Demonstrated success working cross functionally within an organization
  • Position requires 25%+ time for travel (We are a distributed company)
