The Role

Where you fit in

You will be working with Shell’s IT Software Engineering team, where innovation of middleware technologies and integrating systems is at the heart of the team. You will take on an essential role in owning the design and development of technical solutions meeting the IT project needs of the business. The team works collaboratively and with great enthusiasm on multiple projects in their pipeline. The team handles various technical tools primarily Azure Integration Systems. You will be exposed to hands-on experience of IT Projects. This such a great avenue to advance your expertise in Software Engineering as you will join a growing global data science organization spanning both on/offshore delivering solutions.

What’s the role

As Senior Software Engineer, you are responsible to support in the planning, development and use of middleware technologies and services for integrating systems - transporting and consuming data in a secure and reliable manner across a hybrid of applications, services, and trading partners both on premise and in the Cloud.

You are expected to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders and deliver practical solutions while taking multiple agendas into account. You will also be relied on to solve complex technical challenges through initiative and creativity (e.g. leveraging personal industry contacts, performing external technical research, etc.) Another important aspect of your role is to manage conflict and misalignment within the team and with the business to ensure success and deliver optimal business projects.

Your further responsibilities include the following:

  • Consult, design, and solution new integrations/APIs and update existing API functionalities (enhancements or bugfixes) on Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps & Azure functions) and update existing APIs functionality (enhancement/defect fix); Unit/UAT Testing of the API integration.

  • Works from written specifications and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and maintains documentation of process flow/ validate the solution end to end before any implementation. Supports validation of design and early creation of test cases

  • Documentation should be produced in parallel to the design and implementation so that the assets can easily be understood in Exchange and elicit feedback.

  • Presenting the changes to the Integration CoE and landscape managers during the Design review, Code review, Delivery Review and Pre-CAB/CAB meetings to receive required approvals.

  • Will work across multiple projects at once, looking for ways to enable collaboration and sharing of assets and templates to accelerate the overall backlog and avoid duplication of effort

  • Coach and review the deliverables at every stage of the lifecycle to enable the developers to become experts.

  • Able to build relationships and become a trusted partner to the developer community, actively participating in and driving the community of practice.

  • Comply with Information Risk Management (IRM) standards and procedures.

  • The ability to elicit requirements from the business and the ability to understand the specifications of the data sources.

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from professionals who have 9-15 years of IT experience in developing Integrations/APIs solutions or relevant solution development. With at least 4 years of relevant experience with BizTalk and Azure Integration Services. Since the role is primarily into hands-on support of IT Projects, we are eager to meet an individual with IT Projects experience.

Further requirements are as follows:

  • Proven experience in designing highly scalable Integration services using Logic Apps, Functions, Azure API Management and XML XSLT/Liquid transformations

  • Knowledgeable in using ARM template, service principle etc.

  • Strong technical knowledge Azure API Management as an API Gateway to perform routing, throttling, rate limiting, versioning and scaling of the APIs and microservices

  • Cloud monitoring Experience with Azure Log Analytics Azure Monitor Application Insights

  • Detailed understanding of end-to-end best practice across the API / integration lifecycle

  • Experience building and delivering Proofs of Concept (PoC’s) and responding to functional & technical elements of RFIs/RFPs independently and effectively.

  • Strong experience in designing and building complete ETL/SSIS processes moving and transforming data for ODS, Staging, and Data Warehouse

  • Knowledge of Azure Dev ops, git hub repo for code management

  • Knowledge of project delivery methodologies, including Lean and/or Agile and/or DevOps.

  • Knowledge of IT security and compliance requirements.

  • Experience in working with the larger teams, natural teams, speeded across various regions

  • Experience with configure and manage CI/CD pipelines (e.g., source control, build tool, CI server, artefact, and dependency repository, etc.)

  • Knowledgeable with integration with third party analytics and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics, SonarQube, Contrast Security, etc.)

  • Strong experience with Microsoft .NET Framework, C#, web service and BizTalk server development of 2013 R2 and 2016 environments

  • ERP knowledge (SAP IDOC file processing) is advantage

  • Experienced with either Microsoft Biztalk or SQL Server Integration Service

  • Biztalk - Strong experience with Microsoft .NET Framework, C#, web service and BizTalk server development of 2013 R2 and 2016 environments

  • SSIS - Strong experience in designing and building complete ETL/SSIS processes moving and transforming data for ODS, Staging, and Data Warehouse
