Specialist Compliance Controls

What is the role?

The Specialist Compliance Controls is a member of the T&S Compliance Controls team which has responsibility for the design and documentation of all LOD2 Compliance controls across the T&S compliance risks, as well as support and advice to the business (LOD1) in relation to the design and documentation of LOD1 compliance controls. The role will be reporting to the Manager Compliance Controls.

The initial focus of the role includes Financial Crime (AML/KYC, Sanctions and ABC) is expected to expand into the other T&S Compliance Risks (market abuse, licensing etc).

As a Specialist Compliance Controls, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Develop and maintain of key elements of the T&S Compliance Control Framework for LOD1 (or the business lines)

  • Provide SME support and guidance to LOD1 with relation to the design and documentation of Compliance Controls, including identifying key risks and control requirements across business-driven processes

  • Critically assess the design and suitability of T&S LOD1 Compliance controls, identifying gaps and areas for improvements

  • Support the roll-out and implementation of the LOD1 Compliance Controls

  • Partner as a Compliance Controls SME with other parts of Compliance and other Functions, including Operational Risk, Legal, Finance, Business Excellence and Audit

  • Support the embedding of the relevant modules of MetricStream as compliance controls SME.

  • Be a key member of the compliance team of the Risk Task Force’s controls project working group (LOD1)

  • Support the Compliance Controls team with LOD2 Compliance Control work such as developing risk and control libraries and performing control assessments across key risk areas

Requirements

What we need from you

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer

  • Candidate must have minimum 5 (five) years of working experience in oil & gas, commodity market, financial services, trading, or consulting firm

  • Bachelor’s degree in any related field is required

  • Experience in supporting the design and maintenance of a robust Compliance Control Framework within a Financial Services or trading firm

  • Knowledge of the global Energy markets (Gas, Power, Carbon and Oil) and markets is desirable

  • Clear understanding of the “3 Lines of Defense” model and segregation of duties for each LOD

  • Understanding of categorization of Compliance controls and the ability to design and implement a comprehensive Compliance Controls library is desirable

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to interact with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Credible and persuasive in ensuring the needs of our complex business are fully understood, resolve conflict, and deliver tough messages
