What is the role?
The role will focus on trading of physical and financial natural gas products and position management for the South gas desk to manage a portfolio of supply contracts, asset management, and customer sales. This role will be focused on the broader South, with specific focus on learning the various cash books across the SE, GC and TX and providing backup cash trading for existing traders.
You will work closely with other traders both gas and power as well as originators within the trading guidelines each day to maximize value add and minimize value leakage.
Responsibilities:
Has the ability and a proven track record of producing $3M of PNL annually
Has expertise on South gas operations, trading and scheduling
Work with trade desk to optimize portfolio of assets to maximize value and minimize risk.
Collaborate with functional groups within Shell Energy including:
Accounting, Customer Support, Risk Control, and Power Scheduling to facilitate the tie-out and settlement processes for daily P/L reporting and exposure reporting.
Contract Administration to verify/reconcile broker information as well as physical power delivery language.
Records Management.
Credit.
Analyze historical pricing relationships to cash and forward prices.
Contribute to and ensure alignment with SENA's overall goals and strategies.
Growth opportunities to integrated knowledge of power markets and global LNG trends to trade views.
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Minimum 3 or more years of experience in gas trading, operations, or fundamentals with extensive familiarity with one or more regional energy producers and markets.
Knowledge of and adherence to industry Compliance and Regulatory rules.
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
Commercially driven and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of power and gas fundamentals.
Basic coding knowledge is required, and strong coding experience desired.
Demonstrate Grasp of economic reasoning skills.
Understand gas settlements and mark-to-market accounting.
