The Role

Job Description:

The Downstream & Trading Reporting & Analysis Organisation is a team of ~ 1,000 colleagues providing accurate, timely and insightful analysis to the Business.  

Within the Downstream & Trading Reporting & Analysis Organisation, there is a team responsible for Sectors & Decarbonisation (S&D) Planning, Appraisal and Reporting. This role reports into the Sectors & Decarbonisation Central PAR Lead and is directly responsible for supporting the Sectors & Decarbonisation business working closely with the Central PAR team, S&D Sector PAR teams and DS PAR team.

The Sectors & Decarbonisation PAR Analyst is responsible for supporting the delivery of PAR at the Global Sectors & Decarbonisation level supporting the Sectors & Decarbonisation, PAR Manager and interacting with various Sectors PAR Leads within the Organization.

The Sectors & Decarbonisation PAR Analyst will consider economic and business trends, review past company performance, and attempt to anticipate obstacles and potential problems, all with an eye toward forecasting the business’ future financial results and supporting delivery of its ultimate potential.

The key stakeholder for the Sectors & Decarbonisation PAR Analyst is the respective Sectors PAR Teams & PAR Lead Sectors & Decarbonisation, with whom they will partner closely to deliver the following:

  • The annual or other strategic plans for the Business and relevant constituent parts.
  • Management Information for the Sectors & Decarbonisation Business.
  • Development of all material for quarterly or other scheduled appraisal of performance.
  • Preparation of financial forecasts.
  • Working closely with the Controllers Teams to ensure seamless flow of information on the business activities ensuring accurate and timely accounting entries for financial and management information purposes.

The Sectors & Decarbonisation PAR Analyst will work closely with the PAR Leads of respective Sectors within the Sectors and Decarbonization organization to ensure alignment of activities and execution of standard PAR processes.

What we need from you?

You will inspire people to make changes that will have a direct impact on our success. Furthermore, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or Professional Qualification, in Accounting/Finance with exceptional numeracy skills.
  • Excellent oral and written presentation skills.
  • Ability to implement and build strong understanding of the new Sectors & Decarbonisation Financial and Management Information Systems and Data Flows as well as a passion for leveraging technology to automate MI and increasingly build data-driven plans & forecasts.
  • Support the QBR process for the business supported and deliver fit for purpose content by working with teams across the Sectors within the Sectors and Decarbonization organization.
  • Deliver the Operating Plan (OP), Strategic Plan (SP) and Business Monitoring (BM) process e2e for the business by working with PAM community and senior stakeholders.
  • In addition to the above, often delivering credible business plan also requires developing an understanding of how other businesses within the Sectors and Decarbonization organization operate and collaborating effectively with the wider teams.
  • Passion for the Sectors & Decarbonisation Business, the Energy Transition and curiosity to understand the business models.
  • The ability to process and link large volumes of incomplete information into a compelling set of actionable analyses for senior business leaders is key.
