This role plays a pivotal part in the pilot Business Products & Technology Capabilities delivery organisation which will be responsible for managing end to end delivery of these digitalisation solutions. It will provide leadership for a subset of the full product portfolio of the initial pilot, the Fleet Solutions IT delivery organisation, which is currently managed by Retail IT.

What’s the role

Owns the design and development of technical solutions meeting the IT project needs of the business.

Supports the planning, development and use of middleware technologies and services for integrating systems and exposing, transporting and consuming data in a secure and reliable manner across a hybrid of applications, services and trading partners both on premise and in the Cloud.

Further responsibilities are as follows:

  • Work with a team(s) of .NET developers focused on maintaining and building scalable Web Applications to cater to Shell business

  • Participate in discussions about software architecture

  • Work closely with teams, product owners, agile coaches and other stakeholders to ensure we deliver world-class applications

  • Designs technically sound solutions to ensure minimal impact to existing processes

  • Undertakes assessment and model processes, data flows, and technology to understand the current value and issues, and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Responds accordingly to political dynamics that may affect the solution

  • Opinions valued by business interface. Plays a prominent role in project related meetings etc.

  • Working across the delivery lifecycle to ensure solutions delivered are fit for purpose

  • Maintain current and change domain knowledge in line with business growth

  • May encounter difficult or challenging situations within assignments, requiring innovative solutions.

  • Utilises the existing landscape and identifies opportunities to grow and transform the business through the deployment of processes, data and technology solutions

  • Move to Product ways of working with long standing teams

What we need from you

We’re keen to hear from professionals who have 5+ years of industry experience, which includes recent experience delivering digital products with proven business impact and leading large-scale projects on .NET & Azure.

We are also expecting the right candidate to have the following:

  • Knowledge in Fleet Solutions Domain (preference to GFN domain expertise).

  • Strong and proven .NET, ASP.NET, C#, Windows Services development skills

  • Strong and proven SQL, T-SQL (Complex Stored Procedures, Function, etc.,) skills

  • Strong and proven skills in web front end development tools and techniques such as HTML5, Java Script, JS Frameworks (Such as AngularJS)

  • Experience of working in Agile environment

  • Experience developing large scale ASP.NET applications.

  • Clean Coding (SOLID)

  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming

  • Strong attention to detail and a positive attitude

  • Self-motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in deploying and managing web applications in IIS

  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application

  • Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes

  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as TFS

  • Experience or Knowledge with Azure Cloud platform is desirable

  • Experience in Web APIs and Microservices is desirable

  • Innovative mind to always be ahead of competition

  • Learner mindset, daring to fall and get up again stronger and quickly

  • Proven leadership skills, with vast experience in working with multiple, cross-functional teams

  • Practical experience of working in and with techniques such as agile, scrum, lean start-up or design thinking and in creation of Minimum Viable Products/Propositions (MVPs)
